A Fall Day in Downtown Franklin

It’s that time of year where the heat is on its way out, and beautiful crisp days start to surface. Days full of long walks, watching the leaves fall, and drinking warm delicious drinks while catching up with friends. We can’t think of a better place to spend these days than Franklin, TN. Our historic little town presents treasures at every turn, and offers cozy solace during this transitional season. We’ve mapped out what would be our perfect fall day in Franklin, and hope you’re able to take advantage of all the goodness this special city has to offer. Here is a guide to a fall day in downtown Franklin.

GRAB MORNING COFFEE

Since we’re part Coffee Lounge, we may be a tad biased. But our perfect day in Franklin would start in the main square at Onyx + Alabaster for a seasonal themed latte and cinnamon roll. We’d sit and catch up with friends, then walk over to peruse the Home Market. With new products coming in every week, we’ve made this coffee and perusal a weekly tradition.

WALK THROUGH THE DOWNTOWN

Main Street is magical this time of year. Your feet will crunch down on leaves as you walk through, passing by all the wonderful shops and friendly faces. Stop into each shop as you go, they are all filled with little treasures!

EXPLORE GENTRY FARM

What is fall without a pumpkin patch?! Gentry Farm is a family owned property that’s celebrating their 30th anniversary this year, so it will be extra special! It’s an amazing place for kids as well, so skip the supermarket pumpkins and go pick some Franklin grown beauties.

STOP BY LEIPER'S FORK LUNCH

Leiper’s Fork is an iconic town right outside of Franklin, and it offers all the southern charm you could ever hope for. Plan on strolling through the small town and then grabbing lunch at Puckett’s!

DRIVE ON THE NATCHEZ TRACE BRIDGE

After a big lunch, it’s time for a drive! One of the most beautiful views in Tennessee is from the Natchez Trace Bridge, especially in the fall. The trees and colors are breathtaking. It’s worth the drive to see an iconic and stunning view of the Tennessee hills.

DINE AT 55 SOUTH

Head back into downtown for drinks and dinner at one of our favorite spots, 55 South right on Main Street. It’s a relaxing, family friendly restaurant with amazing food. There’s something for everyone! The brisket queso is a must order, trust us. And it doesn’t hurt that it’s right down the street from Kilwin’s, where you can get the most delicious ice cream, fudge, and candy for dessert.
